Assistant Manager

At Mamma Margherita, great service starts with great people. We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Assistant Manager to support our General Manager in leading the front-of-house and bar teams, delivering exceptional hospitality, and helping the restaurant run smoothly every day.

​

This role is ideal for someone ready to step up, develop their leadership skills, and grow within a people-first hospitality business.

​

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you’ll play a key role in the daily operation of the restaurant, supporting the General Manager across front-of-house, bar, people management, and service standards. You’ll lead shifts, support the team, and help ensure every guest enjoys a warm, memorable experience.

​

You’ll work closely with the General Manager and Head Chef, helping to keep service and kitchen operations aligned.

​

Key Responsibilities

🍷 Front of House & Bar Support

  • Support the day-to-day running of FOH and bar operations

  • Lead shifts and act as Manager on Duty when required

  • Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and presentation

  • Support bar service standards, speed, and quality

 

👥 Team Leadership & Development

  • Support training, onboarding, and development of team members

  • Lead by example with positivity, professionalism, and care

  • Motivate the team and help create a strong, supportive culture

  • Assist with rota planning and staff scheduling

 

📊 Operational Support

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures

  • Support stock control, ordering, and waste reduction (FOH & bar)

  • Help manage labour costs and operational efficiency

  • Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety, and company policies

 

🤝 Collaboration

  • Work closely with the General Manager to deliver business goals

  • Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and Head Chef

  • Support smooth service flow between FOH, bar, and kitchen

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in hospitality

  • Strong FOH and/or bar experience

  • Good leadership and communication skills

  • A hands-on, team-first attitude

  • Ability to stay calm and organised in busy services

  • Desire to grow into a General Manager role
